Contracorriente Youth Gathering.

We left Torrejon on a Thursday and after 6 hours of travel, and a lot of rain, we arrived in Priego de Cordoba in the south of Spain. This was the first time to do this youth event in the south of Spain and we were excited and expectant of what would happen. There were to be approximately 500 youth participating and they would have to bring and pitch their own tents for the 4 days together.

When we arrived our hearts sank, the place where the youth were to pitch their tents was full of water and mud. What were we going to do? How were hundreds of youth going to pitch their tents under water? The only dry place at that time was the “Praise City” a big tent that could only hold 50 people which we were going to use as a 24 hour praise point. We didn’t know what we were going to do but we did know that a place to praise was prepared. It made me think of the time during a war that Jehoshaphat sent the praise warriors out first.

The sky continued to bring black clouds our way and we were in definite need of a miracle. We needed God to take the clouds and bring the sun. What we got was a very cold, cold night. I had a hard time sleeping, and I was in a van on an air mattress. But the morning brought good news for when I awoke there was a brilliant sun shining, warming up the inside of the van. That morning we worked like mad trying to prepare everything for those arriving during the day. Slowing things began to dry out, enough for the youth to put up their tents. God did give us a miracle for the weather man had said that it was going to continue to rain…. there wasn’t a drop or rain for the rest of the time. This had been one of the most difficult youth events to organize but it turned out to be one of the most blessed as we saw many youth give their lives to Jesus. We saw other rededicate their lives to Him and others who took the first step to serve God as missionaries. The Praise City was awesome. There were times that the tent was so full that people had to overflow outside and continued to praise God from the outside of the tent. There were many who broke down all barriers and freely praised the Lord. Thank you for your prayers and financial support so these types of events can be held.
